Welcome, Elia Emmeline!

We welcomed Elia on this side of the world on October 12th, 2022.

She was born at 10:09 am at Overlake Hospital and weighed 6 lbs 13 oz.

The name Elia ("el-LEE-uh") comes from the ancient Italian Greek colony of Elea, located in present-   day Campania in southern Italy. Elea (now "Velia") is known for being the birthplace of metaphysical   philosophy. It was the home of the philosophers Parmenides and Zeno of Elea, as well as the Eleatic   school of which they were a part. The Eleatics were a group of pre-Socratic philosophers in the 5th  century BC who rejected the epistemological validity of sense experience, and instead took logical standards of clarity and necessity to be the criteria of truth.

Her middle name Emmeline ("em-muh-LEEN") comes from Emmeline Pankhurst, who led an army of   women onto the streets of Britain as the leader of the Suffragettes. She played an integral part in helping   British women win the right to vote. In 1999, Time named her as one of the 100 Most Important People of   the 20th Century, stating that "she shaped an idea of objects for our time" and "shook society into a new   pattern from which there could be no going back".

We are so happy to have this little miracle in our lives. ❤︎
